Fuel for the fight: MGU supporting area United Way chapters with COVID-19 relief efforts
Monroe — Michigan Gas Utilities (MGU) is extending a helping hand during the COVID-19 pandemic by announcing charitable donations to five United Way chapters in Southern Michigan. The donations will go toward helping area nonprofit organizations provide vital care and support for those affected by the public health emergency.
"Now more than ever, partnering with the communities we serve is critical to help those in need," said Michael Baker, vice president — MGU. "We are honored to do our part to assist individuals and families during this challenging time."
MGU's donations are being provided to the following United Way chapters:
The donations will go toward each chapter's Emergency Response Fund, and will be distributed to nonprofit organizations helping those impacted by COVID-19.
- Allegan County United Way
- Branch County United Way
- Greater Ottawa County United Way
- United Way of Monroe/Lenawee Counties
- United Way of Southwest Michigan
These donations are part of a special giving initiative that MGU's parent company, WEC Energy Group, is making to assist the customers and communities it serves. In total, WEC Energy Group subsidiaries and charitable foundations, which serve more than 4.5 million customers across four states, are providing more than $2 million to COVID-19 relief efforts.
